Debbie Faulk, PhD, MSN, RN
Hello and Welcome to my website. My name is Debbie Faulk. I am a retired professor emeritus of nursing at Auburn University Montgomery Alabama. I retired June 1 2015 and am currently teaching as an adjunct iFNP program at Simmons College and Boston, MA, and in the RN to BSN track at Husson University. I was the coordinator of the RN to BSN program at Auburn Montgomery for 16 years. I am enjoying retirement, but I LOVE teaching and plan to teach part time as long as I can find someone to hire me.
Teaching Philosophy
As an authentic nurse educator, I use my professional values of honesty, fairness, individual responsibility/accountability, team spirit, knowledge and the Golden Rule in my relationship with students and colleagues. I treat students with respect and exhibit a caring approach in my interactions. I use a variety of adult teaching/learning principles based primarily on transformative learning theory to create learning opportunities that help students expand knowledge and find voice to express knowledge with the outcome of enhanced professionalism.
My nursing philosophy is...I believe that at the core of nursing is caring and the use of the Golden Rule. I believe nursing is an art and science that encompasses a holistic approach to caring for individuals, families, and communities using interactive processes. This nursing care is provided to clients in homes, health care institutions and in communities in which the client functions. I believe that health is the ability to perform ones activities of daily living without assistance from others.
